Charles Vaughan

“South London neo-jazz dudester of many cowboy hats”

Charles Vaughan is an eclectic DJ whose sets vary from pulsating jazz, international oddities and classic disco selections to exploring the intersections of genre-bending IDM and experimental tones. Having DJ’d at venues such as Pickle Factory, Bussey Building & Spiritland Charles’ expansive sets broadcast new, familiar and unexpected sounds with infectious energy, no matter what the style.

Having cut his teeth at Goldsmiths University, assisting at Wired Radio and co-founding the experimental AV night ‘Resolution’, Charles became the label assistant to world-renowned ‘On the Corner Records’. Drawing from his jazz education, Charles began exploring the meeting points of jazz and electronic music, a sonic identity that he brought to his Noods radio show ‘inter / sect’. Since leaving On the Corner, Charles has launched a new Worldwide FM show with Tina Edwards titled ‘Universal Sanctuary’, broadcasting the intersections of jazz, DJ culture and DIY movements across the world. His productions and DJ sets have developed into deep explorations of funk & disco selections which draw influence from classic institutions such as The Loft Parties and Studio 54.
